A).   The liver is discolored brown or yellow.  The mounted specimen reveals nemerous light-colored fat droplets with dark borders Fish Behavioral Disorders Flow Chart The cause can be a).  Abdominal Dropsy or

b).  fatty degeneration of the liver due to faulty nutrition or to

c).  bacterial infection

b).  Change diet. 

c).  Treat with Sulfa 4 TMP -or- Gentamycin.

If not, look down the chart further
B).   The liver is greenish in coloration Fish Behavioral Disorders Flow Chart The bile duct is inflamed or obstructed.  The bile is trapped in the liver and gives it the green color Fish Behavioral Disorders Flow Chart This is probably an isolated case and the other fish do not need treatment.
If not, look down the chart further

D).   Small white dots appear on the liver Fish Behavioral Disorders Flow Chart These can be Sporozoan, Tubercular or Ichthyophonus cysts Fish Behavioral Disorders Flow Chart The only effective treatment known is for Tuberculosis.  Start treating immediately with: Kanamycin + Vitamin B-6.  Treat for up to 30 days.
